Painting

The works in this series strike a sensitive relationship between two and three dimensional space: blurring a line between surfaces and creating an abstract atmospheric depth. This dimensionality allows an exploration of intimate spaces between drawn, painted, and layered objects of steel, slate, paper, wood, copper, drywall, and aluminum. In other words, the work seeks a thoughtful layering that invites the imagination of a viewer to linger and inhabit the 2-dimensional object. Informed by, but distinct from architectural models and drawings, the works seek a sensation of building, where the process of construction becomes transparent and the viewer can share in the experience of arriving at the eventual realization of a finished work.
